The Rescue diver course is designed to take your diving skills to the next level. It expands your knowledge, sharpens your abilities, and heightens your awareness of what’s happening around you underwater. More than just a skill upgrade, this course prepares you to respond confidently in emergencies, helping you become a safer diver and a first-class buddy for others.

Rescue diver certification is also an essential step toward earning the PADI Divemaster rating or the prestigious PADI Master Scuba Diver certification. Most importantly, it equips you with the skills to potentially save lives and improve diving safety wherever you dive.

Requirements

• Certified as a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver
• Current CPR & First Aid certification
• Completion of an Emergency Assistance Plan for the local area

Equipment you’ll need

• Mask, fins, snorkel, boots, gloves
• Wetsuit or drysuit
• Dive knife
• Logbook
• 1 passport-style photograph
• SCUBA unit including alternate air source, SPG, computer, and compass

Course content

• Two evenings (6:00pm–9:30pm) of academic sessions—or complete online via PADI eLearning
• A full weekend of open water training

This includes the PADI Rescue Diver Manual, Accident Management Work Slate, and use of tank and weights.
